Here is the thing about artist's who do art from their heart and are successful with that performance, they create what moves them. They don't waver despite inside or outside voices, that say no to all that noise. They press ahead.
My artist friend Joyce DiBona has a show in New York with UZ Urban Art, formally Monkdogz Urban Art. Yup, it's New York baby!
Formally Monkdogz Urban Art, UZ Urban Art, pulled out all the stops on their "premier" opening under their new name. UZ featured a full page add in "Gallery and Studio Magazine" http://galleryandstudiomagazine.com/ as well hosting a splendid opening night.
Back to Joyce, who ends each email with a glorious quote by Vincent van Gogh,
“I would rather die of passion than of boredom.”

Joyce and I have been friends for a few years now. We've discussed major storms and minor drizzles, and I will tell you first hand, she is an artist who expresses herself from the pits of her stomach to the far reaches of the world she lives in. Joyce creates from her inner being and is not afraid to express whatever is seated there. I have shared with her my own inhibitions and she has most graciously shared hers with me. Our friendship brings me to one conclusion...
I guess we live in the trap we supply for ourselves and accept the truth we envision. It is up to us.
That to me is truly the map of a committed artist, bent on refining their craft and accepting the plight thereof. It can be difficult at times and yet it can be blissful. There is no choice though, not to an artist’s heart.
Joyce's work can be controversial and yet she responds to the serene as well. She senses light and darkness, moods for your coffee table; thoughts that make you wonder and ideas that might even cause you to feel angry. Her persona is complex, and in her uniqueness you will find some place where you not only resonate, but resolve that you might have missed some insights, that make you a fuller individual. Her work glows and some of it stuns.

Ed McCormack is the managing editor. Mr McCormack worked with Andy Warhol and was profiled on "Rolling Stone". Robert Storr, the former Museum of Modern Art curator, who was recently appointed dean of the Yale School of Art and chosen as commissioner of the 2007 Venice Biennale, finds Gallery and Studio a must read. Also to be noted is the New York Times, who covers reviews done by them. The biggest prop to them though is that they pay constant attention to reviewing "new" as well as established artists. Monkdogz was developed by Robert Hogge, an artist extraordinaire in his own right, and Marina Hagley.
I first met Bob (Robert Hogge) online, years ago now. We developed a friendship and from there I found myself part of the Monkdogz family. Yay! From there I met and corresponded with many of the Monkdogz artists, Joyce DiBono being one.
Their ship travels onward! Despite Hurricane Sandy and a few ups and downs, Marina Hagley along with artist Sebastien Aurillon, renamed Monkdogz to UZ Urban Art, to promote the ideals of moving forward, despite adversities. http://www.monkdogz.com/
